I examined this book with a critical eye because I am a bench jeweler. I usually work with metals however, sometimes I use recycled objects in my designs. Turning the pages in this book was a real pleasure. The designs that the makers produced were thought provoking and inspiring! Great “eye candy” in this book and should definitely be on your shelf!!!!!!

I purchased this kit to help teach us how to play the piano. We just purchased a Casio Privia PX-330 keyboard and wanted to start lessons as soon as possible. I work part time with the Air National Guard and I am a full time student. I don’t really have time for lessons so I wanted something I can do myself. This kit is amazing and really does help. I have never played any instrument before and I can’t read music. This book teaches you both. Learning to play the piano is a very daunting task but it is much easier with this book. My wife and oldest son are still going to take lessons because they have the time, but I am very satisfied with learning from this book. It does a GREAT job and I would recommend it to everyone trying to learn the piano!!! Would buy again for sure!

The Kids’ Multicultural Art Book: Art & Craft Experiences from Around the World (Williamson Kids Can! Series) Review

This is another excellent art book in the “A Williamson Kids Can! Book” series. I have several in the series, all of which have provided me many ideas for my students’ art projects. I have used this particular book least however, because the projects are more complicated than the other books, and require more adult intervention, especially with younger children. It’s advertised as for ages 4-8, but for children to work more independently, I recommend most projects as suitable for ages 7-13.

Materials include paper, aluminum foil, yarn, salt dough, yarn, popsicle sticks, mud, paper plates, papier mache. There are recipes included for the papier mache and salt dough. The projects represent the following cultures: Native American, Latin American, African, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese. None are very authentic, but are good simulations of arts from these cultures, and can enhance cultural studies, or be done just for fun. One project I have returned to several times because of it’s ease to do, and because of its attractive artistic results is the Guatemalan Wild Cat.

The Complete Book of Pottery Making (Chilton’s Creative Crafts Series) Review

I reccomend this book to both begginers and experienced potters. It has many step-by-step black and white photos with great instructions. The photos have helped me perform techniques better and properly. There is a section on every method of working with clay and gives you solutions to problems. This book also gives great guides on buying clay, making a work space and many other opinions on how to become a professional potter. I don’t have a question about pottery that can’t be answered in this book.

The Complete Book of Pottery Making (Chilton’s Creative Crafts Series) Overview

Provides information on materials and equipment as well as the techniques for modeling clay, coil and slab building, molding, glazing, and firing.

Art Nouveau Stained Glass Pattern Book (Dover Pictorial Archive Series) Review

This book has lots of doable projects. I would classify the skill level as beginner to intermediate, but be prepared to come up with you own color schemes because there are no photographs of completed projects.

About 95% of the patterns have floral themes: lots of tulips, roses, lilies and other generic flowers. There are also a few pattern with women’s profiles, two peacocks, a fish, and a very impressive butterfly pattern (I have seen this one for sale at the auction sites several times). All-in-all this book would be a nice addition to your collection.
